Emily Woodward graduated in Fine Art from University College Falmouth in 2006, specialising in printmaking.
During her time in Falmouth she developed an interest in two-dimensional work that moved beyond the confines of canvas or conventional gallery space. As a screen-printer she created illusions of space, light and depth, however, Emily began to take these ideas further to produce large print installations that imposed vivid colours into a space.
Since graduating Emily worked as ‘Artist in Residence’ in a preparatory school in Somerset where she was able to initiated projects for classes alongside her own work. She used the pupils’ learning environment of the school grounds to display stimulating and interactive works, which encouraged their own creative processes. Whilst at the school she was commissioned to design a prominently positioned stained glass window, which has recently been installed.
Emily completed a commission of five large scale screen prints earlier this year, which are on show with other works in Thorpeness, Suffolk until Friday 10th October.
From September 2008 Emily will study for an 'MA Art and Space' at Kingston University.
